Quintets are in the air this week in Minnesota.
Canadian Brass comes to the region on Tuesday with a concert at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. On Saturday, it’s on to Collegeville, Minnesota for a concert at St. John’s University, with the added bonus of glorious pipe organ at the Abbey & University Church. Read more about the new Canadian Brass recording.
The Imani Winds celebrate its 25th anniversary with a return to Minnesota for this Sunday’s Music in the Parks series. The concert is sold out, but you can put your name on the waiting list. In the meanwhile, check out their latest recording in this interview and video from New Classical Tracks.
What happens when a Mozart quintet meets a Pulitzer Prize winner? We will have to find out at the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota. Their Sunday concert includes a Mozart string quartet, with guest violinist Caroline Shaw. Her resume includes a Pulitzer Prize in Music! The first half of the program includes four of her works, including a song cycle which she will sing. After the show, you can ask Caroline Shaw what it was like to tour with Kanye West. She is a woman of many talents!
