When Yo-Yo Ma founded the Silk Road Ensemble in 1998, the idea was rooted in a simple question: “What happens when strangers meet?” And thus Silk Road was born, as both a touring group comprised of world-class musicians from all over the globe and a social impact organization working to make a positive impact across borders through the arts. You might say that the idea of "creating peace across borders" is one very much on our minds right now —and so Steve Seel features a performance of the Silk Road Ensemble in music by Iranian-Kurdish composer Kayan Kalhor. Steve also plays music by Judd Greenstein, John Luther Adams, Julia Kent, and more.
