Steve Staruch hosted a live recording of Friday Favorites at the Minnesota State Fair on Aug. 24 with Project DJ co-hosts Charity Duran and Jacob Barsness. That special edition was aired Sept. 1. Listen now using the player above.
Charity Duran is a 17-year-old violinist. She is a student at North Hennepin Community College and plans to attend music school. To that end, she is in the middle of preparing for college auditions. She was a member of this summer’s Minnesota All State Orchestra, and she’s a member of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. Three years ago, she was the first 14-year-old Project DJ co-host.
Jacob Barsness is about to begin his third year teaching choral arts to students in seventh to 12th grade in Milaca. It’s a job he loves. He sings with the East Central Minnesota Choral. This summer, he traveled to Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. He had a chance to try out his Spanish and Chinese language skills, and he had the best fish and chips he’d ever eaten on that trip.
