Extra Eclectic - Dec. 4, 2024

Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg wanted to create sounds that hover in his Viola Concerto, and it seems he succeeded — as we hear in one of the showcased works on this episode of Extra Eclectic. Host Steve Seel also presents Lignum by Latvian composer Jekabs Jancevskis, a violin concerto of sorts (which also features the mesmerizing sound of three traditional Latvian folk flutes), as well as Bryce Dessner’s Concerto for Two Pianos, featuring pianist sisters Katia and Marielle Labeque.
