Oceana is a name that conjures waves and reefs, time and tides. It’s also a transcendental piece of music that celebrates the mystery of the ocean and laments its demise, using similar musical resources that J.S. Bach used in his sacred music. This week, the group Border CrosSing performs this remarkable work by composer Osvaldo Golijov, alongside the Bach piece that inspired it. Host John Birge and Artistic Director Ahmed Anzaldúa take a deep dive into the program, ahead of the performance at the Ordway in St. Paul at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.
