Ken Holmen - anesthesiologist and physician executive at Regions Hospital and HealthPartners - joins Alison Young. He calls himself a passionate music "appreciator" but he is also an avid amateur musician and has sung with the National Lutheran Choir for 20 years.
Scott Seal joins Alison Young for Music with Minnesotans. He drives the 21 bus and is a classical music addict, though he can't listen while driving. That's when he works out his comedy routines in his head - and we'll hear plenty of those!
Christine Wehling of the Ecole d'Equitation - or school of riding, education for horses joins Alison Young at noon. Her love of riding, and deep understanding of the beauty of movement and artistry all meld together in a gorgeous playlist of French masterpieces.
Don Ladig is currently a garden designer and installer, but also plays wooden flutes and is a former modern dancer with a wide musical taste that includes Handel, Steve Reich and Dave Holland.
David Rodrick joins Alison Young this Wednesday at noon for Music with Minnesotans. He is the Senior Producer for the Travel Channel show "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" produced here in the Twin Cities. As a journalist, he's perfected the art of telling stories and he brings us on a journey through words and music, since - as he says - language is the instrument he knows how to play best.
Peter Rothstein is the Artistic Director of Theatre Latte Da. He's moonlighting as director in the minnesota Opera's opening production of Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutte," so it's no wonder there's lots of songs on his playlist. Music with Minnesotans airs at noon on Wednesday.
Alison Young is joined by the President of St. John's University Father "Bob" Koopmann. He loves to listen to opera on his many drives to The Cities, and he tells me he needs to stay on cruise control or when the music gets dramatic, he might speed up to 90!
Music with Minnesotans returns with our first guest Senator Dick Cohen. The Senator is not a musician himself but a huge advocate for the arts and one of the originators of the Minnesota Legacy Amendment. We'll listen to a fabulously deep piece of music by Shostakovich, his 11th symphony.
Are you doing something really cool and love classical music? Does classical help you work, or play and or make art? Are you interested in being a guest on Music with Minnesotans? We return with our most interesting listeners and their creative playlists in September and maybe one of them will be you!
