Valery Gergiev is one of the most revered and controversial conductors of our time. On Thursday's Performance Today, we'll go to a concert in Rotterdam to hear Gergiev conduct a performance of Sergei Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1. Plus, we'll hear a musical protest against Gergiev as an encore, from violinist Lisa Batiashvili.

Pyeongchang is a sleepy little town in the mountains of South Korea; it's famous for potatoes, sheep, and skiing. Now it's becoming famous for their annual summertime music festival, as well.
