Classical MPR has been offering the marvelous concerts from this past summer's Music@Menlo festival as free downloads, and only today the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra announced that the wizard behind planning those concerts will be joining the team as their new Director of Artistic Planning.
Patrick Castillo is an active musician himself - a composer with his scores featured in music festivals all over the country. He has just completed eight seasons as Artistic Administrator with Music@Menlo working closely with Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han to create a thriving music festival both in live concerts and on the radio and internet.
With the SPCO, Mr. Castillo will work directly with the Artistic Partners and Artistic Vision Committee to create and implement initiatives, including artist/conductor engagements, season programming, touring, festival and recording projects as well as overseeing the SPCO's education program.
Mr. Castillo begins his new job November 1st. Welcome to Minnesota!
