Today at 2 p.m., OVation will perform at the Minnesota State Fair at the MPR booth, located near the corner of Judson and Nelson. Classical MPR's Valerie Kahler hosts.
Comprising 8 to 12 singers, OVation is described as "the portable version" of One Voice Mixed Chorus — hence the use of the capitals "OV" in the spelling of its name. OVation performs at 12 to 15 events annually, either with One Voice or on its own, and has performed at various venues, including the Minnesota State Fair, Twin Cities Pride, places of worship and at Minnesotans United events. Scott Kvigne is OVation's ensemble coach.
Its parent organization, One Voice Mixed Chorus, is the largest GLBT chorus in North America, and is committed to musical excellence and community outreach. The 110 singing members range in age from 17 to 75.
Under the direction of Artistic Director Jane Ramseyer Miller, One Voice Mixed Chorus has performed throughout Minnesota, as well as in venues outside its home state.
