With its potent mix of fury and fear, punctuated with hammering chords and explosive bass drum bangs, the Requiem Mass is one of Verdi's most striking choral works.

For one night only -- on the composer's 200th birthday -- Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus celebrate the 200th anniversary of Verdi's birth by reprising their acclaimed 2009 performances, which sold out months in advance and led to their Grammy® Award-winning recording.

Verdi's Requiem Mass will be performed by CSO Music Director Riccardo Muti, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Chorus, and soprano Tatiana Serjan, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, tenor Mario Zeffiri, and bass Ildar Abdrazakov. The concert will be live streamed around the world, including PerformanceToday.org.

Riccardo Muti, CSO music director since 2010, is widely considered to be the greatest living interpreter of Verdi's music.
