Enemy Front focuses on the Warsaw Uprising during World War II.
When I learned that Cris Velasco was scoring the game, I was slightly concerned, since Velasco scored last year's WWII-themed Company of Heroes II.
Never fear, for Velasco managed to score a completely different aspect of that time in history. In fact, his music was so unexpectedly contemplative that I fell in love with it immediately.
Games based during times of war usually focus on aggressive combat music. But Velasco's score is unusual for offering a more introspective, emotional landscape.
It's a colorful score; you'll hear marimba solos along with harp and bassoon solos — creative implementations of less common instruments, especially for a war game.
Since Enemy Front focuses on the Warsaw Uprising, Velasco included an important homage to Poland. He listened to a lot of music by Poland's most famous composer: Frédéric Chopin.
That led Velasco to highlight the piano in the score. Velasco's music for Enemy Front is available on iTunes, along with past episodes of Top Score.
