This week, Julia Bogorad-Kogan wrote about "The flutist's-eye view of the orchestra." Now it's time to test your flute knowledge.
Classical MPR host Alison Young didn't always work in radio; previously, she enjoyed a successful career as a professional flutist before an illness cut her career short.
Alison has performed as principal flutist with the Houston, Boston and Atlanta Symphonies, where she was hailed by the Atlanta Constitution and Journal as a "recitalist of great poise and technical security, dazzling precision and virtuosic flair." Young has recorded several CDs and continues (to her surprise) to be sought after as a master class clinician and private teacher.
It's that experience that inspired Alison to write this flute quiz — it's fun and interactive. Go ahead and give it a try, then feel free to share your results in the comments section below; you can also tweet your score to @ClassicalMPR (use #flutequiz) and share your results on our Facebook page.
