Update: Here's a clip from the performance, complete with an intro from Harrison Ford:
The classically trained pop vocal group Pentatonix plan to sing — yes, sing — excerpts from John Williams's Star Wars score on this year's American Music Awards.
Though the group typically perform a cappella, for this special performance they'll have a little help from their friends: a full symphony orchestra.
The American Music Awards will be broadcast live from L.A. on Sunday, Nov. 22 on ABC. The group aren't nominated for any of the fan-voted awards — but their new self-titled album was released after nominations had already been announced.
The Star Wars performance will capitalize on the frenzy of anticipation for the next installment in the epic film series; The Force Awakens, with Williams returning as composer, will be released on Dec. 18.
