Dr. David E. Morrow and the Morehouse Glee Club Quartet stopped by our studios recently to talk with Julie Amacher about the history of the Glee Club and to perform some songs.
Morehouse College is a private, all-male, liberal arts, historically black college located in Atlanta. The Morehouse College Glee Club was founded in 1911, stemming from an established singing tradition at Morehouse that goes back to the 1870s.
Dr. Morrow and the members of the Morehouse College Glee Club Quartet also spoke about their involvement in the upcoming Witness Concert with VocalEssence, which features a newly formed 200-voice high school male chorus made up of students from Minneapolis and St. Paul High Schools. The VocalEssence Witness concert takes place Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
