As a musician himself, clarinetist Martin Fröst knows it's important to feel part of the orchestra. "We want all the musicians to be awake and feel that they are important," he says. "Every single musician."
Fröst is also an artistic partner with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, which places him in a conductor role — something he embraces and enjoys. "You feel alive in a very good way," Fröst says, "and then all of your energy goes to all the important things."
On Saturday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m., Classical MPR's Alison Young hosts a live broadcast of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in concert, led by artistic partner and clarinetist, Martin Fröst, in a program featuring works by Johannes Brahms and Aaron Copland. And in a delightful family connection, the program includes an arrangement of Brahms' Hungarian Dances for clarinet — created by Martin Fröst's brother, Göran Fröst, so Martin can play it as a soloist with orchestra.
