Last year, Eric Whitacre brought his award-winning U.K. ensemble, the Eric Whitacre Singers, to the U.S. for the second time ever — and to the Twin Cities for the first time ever. They toured with a program called 'Music for Sacred Spaces,' and they gave an amazing performance at the Cathedral of St. Paul.
"My idea of this time was instead of going into typical concert halls was to find beautiful cathedrals, churches, these extraordinary spaces that were built for music and for the sound of music and ultimately human beings in their most aspirational state, looking upwards, looking heavenwards, hoping, [having] optimism," Whitacre says. "And so all of the pieces that I've chosen for the tour fit under that umbrella."
