Choral Featured Album: 'Now Ye Heavenly Powers'

Hear selections from new releases with our weekly Choral Featured Album Fridays at 11 a.m. central on the Choral Stream.

This week on the Choral Featured Album, we present Now Ye Heavenly Powers, by the semi-professional choir Lux, which was founded and is run by college-age musicians.

About the album (from the Lux website)

Featuring over an hour of stunning music, Lux's talent and passion are on full display in this album. With works spanning from Anton Bruckner and Antonio Lotti, to Eric Whitacre and John Tavener, to Dave Matthews and Kurt Bestor, you're sure to find something you'll love on this album. …

These recordings represent the best of some of the group's favorite repertoire over the 2017-2018 seasons, shedding light on many new and familiar composers, established and growing, as well as a few long-standing favorites of the choral repertoire. Aside from their prowess as a mixed ensemble, this album features works for just tenors and basses, as well as for sopranos and altos. Lux puts their versatility on display in their second release.
