Pianist Emma Taggart, a 2017 and 2019 Minnesota Varsity Showcase Artist, recently made her third appearance on the national radio program From the Top. The 16-year-old native of Blaine, Minn., performed Franz Liszt's 'Liebestraum No. 3 in A-Flat Major.'
Before her performance, Taggart shared a few lines from the poem by Ferdinand Freiligrath that inspired Liszt to compose his piece:
O love, love as long as you can,
O love, love as long as you will,
For the time will come, the time will come,
When you will stand, grieving at the grave.
"It seems like the perfect piece for a 16-year-old girl to play," joked guest host Simone Dinnerstein.
"As it's grown with me and matured, I've come to love it even more," Taggart said. "It's definitely one of my favorites, and I hope to continue playing it for many more years."
Taggart is currently a senior at St. Agnes High School in St. Paul, Minn., and studies privately with Dr. Reid Smith. She plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in piano performance.
