Tina Davidson, composer: Barefoot; with the Jasper String Quartet and pianist Natalie Zhu (New Focus Recordings)
Composer Tina Davidson grew up in a household of violins and strings. “I've always been really attracted to the fluidity of the instrument and its ability to move notes around easily,” she says. “[Strings] can glissando. They can do all these different things with sounds.” That’s why she has been inspired to write a lot of music for strings, including her latest recording, Barefoot, which features the Jasper String Quartet along with pianist Natalie Zhu.
