New Classical Tracks - Tina Davidson

Tina Davidson, composer: Barefoot; with the Jasper String Quartet and pianist Natalie Zhu (New Focus Recordings)

Composer Tina Davidson grew up in a household of violins and strings. “I've always been really attracted to the fluidity of the instrument and its ability to move notes around easily,” she says. “[Strings] can glissando. They can do all these different things with sounds.” That’s why she has been inspired to write a lot of music for strings, including her latest recording, Barefoot, which features the Jasper String Quartet along with pianist Natalie Zhu. Find out more on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
