María Dueñas: Captivating Caprices (Deutsche Grammophon)
After winning first prize and the audience prize in the Yehudi Menuhin competition in 2021, Spanish violinist María Dueñas has been considered one of the most promising musicians of her generation. Although she’s only 22, she’s managed to develop her own tone and unique sound, something she attributes to listening to old recordings by Jascha Heifetz and David Oistrakh. On Dueñas’ latest recording, Captivating Caprices, she also plays different violins to capture exactly the right sound for each piece. Find out more on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
