New Classical Tracks - Joshua Bell

Joshua Bell, violin: Thomas de Hartmann Rediscovered; with the Lviv Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dalia Stasevska (Pentatone)

Violinist Joshua Bell recently made the first commercial recording of Ukrainian composer Thomas De Hartmann’s Violin Concerto. “I had never really heard of this composer,” Bell says. “A man named Efrem Marder took it upon himself to rejuvenate interest in De Hartman. He sent me a tape of a live performance from many decades ago, and I was just struck by this piece. I absolutely fell in love with it.” Find out more about Bell’s experience recording the concerto alongside Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska and the Lviv Symphony Orchestra on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
