New Classical Tracks — Lara Downes

Lara Downes, piano: This Land; with conductor Edwin Outwater, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Orchestra and composer Edmar Colón (Pentatone)

In February, pianist Lara Downes gave us a preview of her latest recording as we celebrated the centennial of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The recording featured the reimagining of that iconic work by the young Puerto Rican composer Edmar Colón. That re-creation then became the launching pad for her latest album, This Land, which was recently released in its entirety. Find out more on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
