In this week's Regional Spotlight, Anthony Ross's cello sound is so powerful it's palpable.

This week on Regional Spotlighy, the Artaria String Quartet performs Haydn's "The Horseman" from Stringwood Summer Chamber Music Festival along the banks of the Root River in Lanesboro, Minnesota.

Saint Cloud boasts many things: a university, two wineries, superb fishing and, of course, the Great River Chorale! The Great River Chorale is featured in this week's Regional Spotlight, airing Thursday, July 18 in the 3 p.m. hour.

The Arianna String Quartet's intense performance of the Mendelssohn String Quartet in f minor from Madeline Island is this week's Regional Spotlight, airing Thursday, July 12 in the 3 p.m. hour.

To conclude the 31st season of the Bethlehem Music Series, Monroe Crossing and the Bethlehem Senior Choir perform Carol Barnett's The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Masswith great passion and bluegrass grit. It's a wonderful way to mark the July 4th afternoon.

The community of Northfield is in good artistic hands with both St. Olaf College and Carlton College in town. In addition Northfield boasts the I Cantanti Community Choirs, fine community choirs which celebrated their 25th anniversary with a concert this past April.

Belgian composer, Piet Swerts, was taken with a story of joyful dancing that banishes the darkness. His sunny and joyful "Dance of Uzume," performed by the NDSU Wind Symphony, is in this week's Regional Spotlight.

In today's Regional Spotlight, Osmo Vanska occupies a different role -- that of a clarinetist -- is joined by pianist Susan Billmeyer and violist Thomas Turner in a performance of a piece that's perfect for summer.

There's hot, bold-sounding virtuosity, and there's languid, glowing virtuosity. Both were on display at a Frederic Chopin Society recital this past May when the Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung piano duo took to the stage at the Mairs Concert Hall at Macalester College.

John Orfe's new work, "Infinite Expectations of the Dawn" is a recent commission from the Choral Arts Ensemble (CAE) in Rochester Minnesota. Music Director Rick Kvam leads the CAE in this new piece with a few choral classics the from a May 5, 2013 concert.
